Koya-san is well known as a major pilgrimage site for Shingon Buddhism followers and its major attraction is the monastic complex. Take this opportunity to stay in a temple and have a religious Japanese life.
You will be able to experience either Ajikan (similar to Zazen, a seated meditation) or Sha-jyutsu / Sha-kyo (either draw/paint Buddha's or learn how to write sutras) meditation methods. The method cannot be specified because it depends on teacher availability; however, both methods are practiced by the Buddhists to reach enlightenment.
