JR East PassThe JR East Pass is an economical and flexible rail pass to travel around Eastern Japan. It is valid for travel on all the 72 railway lines of JR East : 5 Shinkansen Lines and 67 Conventional Lines and Tokyo Monorail. The JR East Pass comes in several variations to meet your itinerary and flexibility : available as a 5 and 10 consecutive day travel passes, and a Flexible 4 day pass. You can also use the JR East Pass to ride the Izu Kyuko Line, the Hokuetsu Kyuko Line and the Tobu-Nikko Line.

Price of JR East Pass

There are two types of JR East Passes: Green (for superior-class Green cars) and Ordinary. Each of these types is available as a 5 days, a 10 days, a Flexible 4 days pass.

How to use JR East Pass?

After you arrive in Japan, you turn in the Exchange Order to receive Japan Rail Pass at an applicable exchange office as listed below. Further information, please refer [How to obtain your Japan Rail Pass?].
  • JR Travel Service Centre in Narita Airport Terminal 1 and 2
  • JR Travel Service Centre in Haneda International Airport
  • JR Travel Service Centre in Aomori, Hachinohe, Akita, Sendai, Yamagata, Fukushima, Niigata, Nagano, Tokyo, Shinagawa, Ueno, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ikebukuro and Yokohama stations
How to use reserved seat?
Midori no MadoguchiKyushu Shinkansen (Bullet Train) and most limited express and ordinary express trains have reserved Green car seats and both reserved and non-reserved ordinary car seats. A non-reserved seat can be used simply by showing your Japan Rail Pass. Seat reservations can be made without additional payment.

To make a reservation, apply at any Travel Service Centre or a Reservation Office (MIDORI-NO-MADOGUCHI) at a JR station. There, show your Pass, and obtain your reserved-seat ticket before boarding. Seat reservations cannot be made before you receive the Pass in Japan.
