1 Nijo-jo Castle (50 min)

Tour the historical castle completed in 1626, which was built to provide lodging for Tokugawa Shogun and as a palladium for Kyoto Imperial Palace.

Remarks : On Tuesdays (or Wednesday if Tuesday is a national holiday) in January, July, August, and December and over the year-end New Year's holidays, Nijo Castle is closed. The tour will visit Ryoan-ji Temple instead.

2 Kinkaku-ji Temple (45 min)

Visit the Golden Pavillion, designated as a National Special Historic Site and National Special Landscape, with 2 floors covered entirely in thin layers of pure gold and detailed architecture incorporating three disctinct styles of shinden, samurai, and zen.

3 Kyoto Imperial Palace (except Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and specific days) (40 min)

Gain exclusive access to the former residence of the Emperor of Japan, which oversaw many important functions until the capital moved to Tokyo in 1869.

Remarks : On Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays, Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed. On these days, the tour will visit Kitano-tenmangu Shrine instead. The same is true of the period before and after the public viewing of Kyoto Imperial Palace in spring and autumn, 14 - 17 May due to the Aoi Festival, year-end New Year's holidays, and whenever there is an Imperial Household event.

4 Kitano-Tenman-gu Shrine (Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and specific days) (40 min)

It is famous as God of study. The main shrine has been designated a national treasure. It is particularly worth visiting for Japanese plum blossoms and colored leaves.

Remarks : On 25 Jan, 25 May and 25 Aug, Nishi Hongan-ji Temple will be the alternative for Kitano-tenmangu Shrine.
