At the Gion Corner, enjoy watching tea ceremonies, traditional dancing, music, and performances. You may even be lucky enough to see a Maiko (apprentice geisha)!

This tour allows you to enjoy watching / experiencing Japanese traditional performances, including Japanese traditional dance, Noh, Kyogen, Bunraku, koto, tea ceremony, Japanese traditional flower arrangement.

2 Gion Historical Preservation District (50 min)

Participants have an opportunity to take a walk in Gion Historical Preservation District while heading for Yoshi-ima Ryokan from Gion Corner. Enjoy strolling around narrow streets with many old ochayas (Japanese-style teahouse providing meals and performances of maiko girls and geiko women).

3 Tea Ceremony and Dinner at Yoshi-ima Ryokan (70 min)

Yoshi-ima Ryokan's tea ceremony room Kurenaitei offers the exclusive service of private evening tea ceremony service under candle light. Dinner will be served in Zen-style, a simple but well-balanced dietetic meal now attracting global attention.

Remarks : Shojin-ryori, or Buddhist vegetarian cuisine, is served for supper, so we welcome vegetarian participants. The ingredients of tempura are tofu, namafu wheat gluten, yuba tofu skin, and vegetables in season, such as eggplants, lotus root, ginger, and shiitake mushroom. Miso soup and rice are also served.

  • Casual clothing is permitted.
  • You can participate in the Kyoto Afternoon and Kyoto 1-day tours. Please transfer at Kyoto Hotel Okura or at the Kiyomizu-dera Temple parking lot.
