Their huge floats are paraded all day and night with mechanical puppet shows, brilliant color paper machete, and lanterns.

This fully escorted tour takes you to West side of Japan exploring Kyoto, Kanazawa, Takayama, Shiragawa-go, Matsumoto, Hakone, Mt. Fuji, and Tokyo. You will get to experience a tea ceremony in a Buddhist Temple, a cruise in Lake Ashi with a breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji, and walk along a rural gassho village.

Travelling at 270 km/h, we are heading towards Kyoto using the "shinkansen," bullet train. After arrival, we shall begin by visiting Nishijin Textile Centre, where you can witness the creation of a traditional kimono. The centre offers courses in handweaving, trying on elegant kimonos, and, if you like it, you can purchase it. You will be invited to see dazzling arrays of kimonos in a fashion show.

Next in our agenda will be a trip to Kiyomizu Temple. The most iconic temple of Japan, Kiyomizu Temple is a wooden structure that overlooks the city of Kyoto. On the base, three canals sprout water representing love, wisdom, and longevity. The last stop will be Kodaiji Temple, built in 1606 in memory of Toyotomi Hideyoshi by his beloved wife, Nene. This beautifully constructed shrine is well balance with nature maintaining a Japanese and Zen Garden with a Bamboo Forest. It is this location overlooking the scenery that you will be taking lessons in Japanese Tea Ceremony. We then return to Kyoto to visit the Gion Geisha District where you can spot geisha walking along the ancient capital.

Afterwards, we offer options for our guest:
1) you may freely roam on your own in Gion
2) Head toward Gion Corner where you can see Geisha dances and other traditional performances (PRICE: JPY 3,150 TIME: 6:00pm, 7:00pm)
3) Go to a photo studio where you can dress as a Geisha with make-up or as a samurai (prices depends on number of exposures and location)

From Kyoto, we will travel north-west with our first stop at Kanazawa prefecture. Kenrokuen is classified as one of Japan’s top three most beautiful landscape garden. This crowning champion is a hot spot for many tourists to visit this small town just to get a glimpse of its manicure trees and blooming flowers. We will continue to a small farming community of Shirakawago. It’s declared an UNESCO world heritage site where the old traditional farm homes, gassho-zukuri, are preserved to maintain the beauty of the scenery.

Following the sound of drums we will travel up the mountains to Takayama just in time to witness the festival in full swing. Takayama festival is considered to be one of the best festivals in Japan. Their huge floats will light up the night’s sky with many arrays of color paper lanterns.

Takayama, or as some people call it "little Kyoto", has many areas where homes and shops are more than 300 years old and well preserved. The morning market is also located in that area and we will explore many vendors and activities. You will have free time to roam around to buy souvenirs, take pictures, or visit other important sight see spots. We will have time to see the Takayama floats in the day time to see a puppet performance from the floats. The portable shrines are also stages to mechanical puppets that people control inside the floats called karakuri.

Afterwards we will head back to Tokyo but with a side trip to Matsumoto Castle. This castle is one of the very few original castles that were kept intact and never destroyed. Also its unique black coloring gave its nickname karasu-jo, the Crow Castle. It's one of three must see castles in Japan and ranked on the top 100 in the world castles. Today's hotel is located in the banks of Suwa Lake. The ryokan, Japanese hotel, contains variety of onsen, hot springs, which you can dip in and relax. Dinner is provided in traditional style of kaiseki, a Japananese multi-course cuisine.

In the morning, we shall begin by visiting Japan's most iconic symbol, the sacred Fuji-san, Mt. Fuji. It is 3,776 meters tall, making it Japan's tallest mountain. It's not surprising that the almost perfect shaped volcano has been worshiped through all the ages from poetry to art. From Fuji-san we will continue our journey to Hakone, where we will take a cruise in Lake Ashi. We will then take a ropeway to Owakudani, an active volcanic crater still steaming from its last eruption some 3,000 years ago. There you will get a taste of the local cuisine, the black egg, cooked in one of the craters. In the end, we will head towards our hotel in Tokyo.

Today will be devoted to exploring the multi-cultural spots of Tokyo.
Starting with an optional tour to the tuna auction live at the world famous Tsukiji Market. It's the biggest fish market in the world selling over 2,000 tons of fish per day. Though the tour starts at 3:30am, this district is buzzing with life and activities distributing fishes to all the sushi shops in Tokyo. After this tour, you will be taken to your hotel to pack and meet the group.

The tour will head out to Edo Tokyo Museum where you can get acquainted with the history of Tokyo. Close by, we will explore Akihabara famous for their abundance in electronic stores and the home of anime lovers. After lunch in Akihabara, we will delve in the old town district of Asakusa – shop around the Nakamise Shopping area and pray at the Sensoji Temple. We will also be stopping at the Imperial Palace Plaza today to get a glimpse at the current Emperor’s home.

In the evening, we will probe the stores at Harajuku. The unofficial fashion capital of Japan offers the latest pop culture and fashion. Returning to our hotel, we will be passing by the fame Shibuya Cross and Roppongi Hills.
